FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When should we start trying to conceive?

Once you feel physically and emotionally ready, it helps to start folic acid, review any medications with a doctor, and get to know your fertile window. Most healthy couples under 35 conceive within a year of regular, unprotected sex.

How do I find my fertile window?

Ovulation usually happens about 12–16 days before your next period. Signs include changes in cervical mucus and a small rise in basal body temperature. Our ovulation and fertile-window calculators estimate your most fertile days from your cycle length.

When should we see a fertility specialist?

Consider seeking help if you're under 35 and haven't conceived after 12 months of trying, 35 or older after 6 months, or sooner if you have known issues like irregular cycles, PCOS, endometriosis, or previous pelvic surgery. See our 'when to seek help' guide.

What is IVF and how is it different from IUI?

IUI (intrauterine insemination) places prepared sperm directly into the uterus around ovulation. IVF (in-vitro fertilisation) retrieves eggs, fertilises them in a lab, and transfers an embryo to the uterus. Our IVF and IUI guides explain each step, and our tools estimate costs and success rates.
