Boys Growth Chart โ€” Weight & Height by Age ๐Ÿ“

Average weight and height for boys from birth to 5 years, based on the World Health Organization (WHO) Child Growth Standards. Use it to see typical growth at each age โ€” and remember every child grows at their own healthy pace.

Compare your child to the average

This is a simple comparison to the WHO median, not a clinical percentile. Your pediatrician plots your childโ€™s exact percentile. Not medical advice.

How to read a growth chart

A growth chart shows how your childโ€™s size compares with other children of the same age and sex. The numbers above are the average (50th percentile). Your pediatrician plots your childโ€™s actual measurements on a percentile curve at each visit.

The single most useful thing a chart tells you is the trend. A child who steadily follows their own curve โ€” whether thatโ€™s the 15th, 50th, or 85th percentile โ€” is usually growing healthily. A sudden jump or drop across several percentile lines is the signal worth discussing with your doctor.

Boys growth chart FAQs

What is the average weight and height for a boy by age?
The table on this page shows WHO median weight and height for boys from birth to 5 years. For example, an average boy weighs about 9.6 kg at 12 months and around 18.3 kg at 5 years.
What is a growth percentile?
A percentile compares your child to other children of the same age and sex. A child on the 50th percentile is right in the middle โ€” half of children are heavier or taller and half are lighter or shorter. Any percentile can be healthy; what matters most is that your child follows their own steady curve over time.
Should I worry if my child is below or above average?
Not necessarily. Children come in a wide range of healthy sizes. Doctors look at the trend across visits rather than a single measurement. Speak to your pediatrician if your child's growth suddenly crosses several percentile lines up or down.
Are these the same as Indian growth charts?
The WHO Child Growth Standards are recommended for children under 5 worldwide, including India, and are used by the IAP (Indian Academy of Pediatrics). They describe how healthy, well-nourished children grow regardless of country.
